Various members of the Tata Memorial Centre lead by Dr. R. Badwe (Director, TMC) serve on the Terry Fox Committee. Tata Memorial Centre is the national comprehensive cancer centre for prevention, treatment, education and research in cancer and is recognized as one of the leading cancer centres globally.
- Every year more than 40,000 new patients visit the clinics from all over India and neighbouring countries.
- Nearly 60% of these cancer patients receive primary care at the Hospital of which over 70% are treated almost free of charge.
- Over 1000 patients attend the OPD daily for medical advice, comprehensive care or follow-up treatment.
- Nearly 6300 major operations are performed annually and over 6000 patients are treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy annually in multi-disciplinary programmes delivering established treatments.
Evidence based treatment is the keystone of all our endeavours. Apart from patient care and service the centre conducts numerous clinical research programmes and clinical trials. Regular educational updates, training programs and conferences organized by TMC help dissemination of knowledge thus contributing to improved delivery care all across the country.
